To gain a full understanding of the student’s background and difficulties, you will be asked to complete some questionnaires. I will also send questionnaires to the school to gather insights from the classroom.
A recent eye test (within the last year) is essential, as test results may not be valid without one.
If available, I will also ask for copies of:
✔ Recent school reports
✔ Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
✔ Reports from other professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists)
This information helps ensure a thorough and accurate assessment.
I assess children aged 8 - 16 years. The assessment usually takes 2.5 – 3 hours and depending on age, it may be appropriate to have one or two sessions. Assessments can take place at school, at your home, or at my home. We take as many breaks as needed to ensure your child feels comfortable.
Your child will complete assessments in a range of areas including:
I know assessments can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I prioritise making the experience relaxed and reassuring, helping your child feel comfortable and confident.
You will receive a detailed written report within four weeks. This will outline your child’s cognitive and academic profile and include practical recommendations for support at home and school. If relevant, it will also suggest exam access arrangements.
My recommendations are based not only on my expertise as a specialist teacher and assessor but also on my understanding of the school environment.
I am happy to answer any questions about the report or discuss the next steps.
The cost of a full dyslexia assessment is £550. This includes the assessment, a detailed written report with personalised recommendations, and a 20-minute follow-up call if needed.
